Being somewhat craft impaired, I need a step by step guidance on how to make a marshmallow and hershey kiss rosary. I actually am thinking of doing it as a craft for my CCD class at my parish.
How do you string it? With needle and thread? How do you make and attach the cross? Any other little pointers would be most appreciated!

The marshmallow and Kiss rosary I've seen was not strung, but just placed on a flat surface (and then I pressume, eaten ). Here is the blog post I saw last year.
If you wanted to go the stringing route, I'm not sure how to get a Hershey Kiss to string - it's thick and hard. The marshmallows would be easier as a needle would pass through those. Though it would get sticky and might gum up after awhile. You would also need to use a slick or waxed thread so that it would slide well.
They could possible be hot glue gunned to a wide ribbon as another alternative.
In the blog link above, you will see how she made a cross from pretzel sticks and a marshmallow. To attch by stringing, you could add a marshmallow to the top and string through that.
Still my recommendation if I were doing this, would be to go with the temporary (not strung) rosary.

Thank you very Much Mary M! I went back to the blog post and of course saw right off that it wasn't strung and that the cross was made from pretzels. Guess I'm not very observant.
I think I want something the CCD girls can walk out with to show the rest of their families before they commence to eating it. So maybe I should find candy that already has holes in it! Like life savers and such. I'll have to do an investigation in what candy works best. Someone suggested using a different kind of candy other than kisses. What do you call those round chocolate covered candies you get at movie theaters????? Can't recall it. Anyway, thanks for setting me straight. I can see I have work to do!

That age are you doing this for? Yesterday we had a homeschool support group activity to celebrate October's dedication to Our Lady of the Rosary and one of the activities I set up was stringing a cereal rosary for the K and under crowd. We used Cheerios for the Hail Marys and Fruit Loops for the Our Father/Glory Be beads to set it off with color. It was a very popular activity and though intended for the younger set - I saw plenty of older children over there as well having a great time . We used a stiff hemp stirng for hte string so that it would be stiff enough for little fingers to thread without the use of a needle.

well if you really wanted to use kisses.. you might heat up a needle to go through the kiss and string on dental floss.

Thanks everyone. This is actually for my 7th grade girls CCD class. I think cheerios might be too young. On the other hand these are public school girls and they did not get enough cozy, happy nurturing when it comes to learning their faith. The kind of fun things we do with our kids through out the liturgical year because we love living a Catholic life just doesn't happen with these girls. I teach them on Monday evenings at 7:30 and they are so tired! They've been up since 6 a.m. And the last thing they want to do is sit in a classroom and be taught! So what I've been trying to do is do fun things with them that will help them bond and trust me so we can conversationally learn the faith. I asked them if they'd be insulted if I did artsy/craftsy stuff with them and they thought it sounded wonderful!
I did find a website that illustrated making candy necklaces out of string licorice and various kinds of candy with holes! I might go that route. Anyway, when I figure it out I'll let you all know. I have to be very intrepid about this. I truly am not good at the crafts stuff!

We did a popcorn rosary with popcorn as the "Hail Mary's" and I used small squares of construction paper as spacers between the "Our Father" beads, which were cheerios. It turned out really well...
For the cross, I just dangled a smaller piece of thread from the main rosary (which was a larger circle), and put on the Our Father and Hail Mary's...and then LAST I put on the cross, which were 2, small, construction paper cut-out crosses that I glued together to "sandwich" the string, if that makes sense.
I don't have a blog or pics...  which I realize would be helpful.
But like I said, it looks really cool...

Very cute!
We put a Crucifix on the dining room table, turned down the lights and used Peanut M&Ms, each decade a different color and tea lights for the Our Fathers. It looked cool when we were done. Didn't string it; just ate it

I just thought I'd report back about the candy rosary for the 7th grade girls. I think the lesson went over pretty well. A couple of the girls were completely unfamiliar with the rosary! So it was a really good activity for them. I wound up just giving them some construction paper and having them line up chocolate chips and marshmallows. I didn't bother to string anything. I bought little wooden crosses at Michael's for 89cents. I gave them each a little baggie with which to take the candy home and share with their families. They were really happy and started to open up and chat. They are very, very quiet and it is hard to get any response out of them!
