Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Any suggestions for a spiritual group for older girls? I'm considering using Little Women Hospitality thing and adding Bible and maybe something to do with Catholic Girl's Guide but haven't really cemented any ideas. If you've done something for the older girls I'd love to hear about it. TIA

We did something we called Merciful Maidens. This was for the upper elementary early jr highers. We did it two different ways. They met monthly. One year, the girls did a craft of some sort that would go to a good cause, for example, they made fleece blankets for preemies at hospitals, meals for moms with new babies, decorated fancy nightlights for foster children, etc. There was something for each month.

Another year one month they would learn about how to care for someone and then the next month, they would visit that person. For instance, one month they learned a lot about newborn care. Then the next month, our meeting was spent at the local pregnant women's center run by Catholics and other prolifers and we saw how they cared for pregnant women in need and for their babies. Another month we learned about elder care, what was dementia vs. alzheimer's, how to keep a house "fall" free and then the next month we visited a senior day center and made crafts with them.

We found that has they got older, they really wanted something social, but meaningful with service involved.

Have you seen the new Our Lady's Honor Guardby the same folks as Little Flowers? I just purchased the manual because we are looking for something for our middle school age crowd between Little Flowers/Blue Knights and Pilgrims. I have only started reading it, but really like the look of the program so far.

Do you have the Catholic Girl's Guide? The Little Flowers program is based on the Catholic Girl's Guide so you might be able to go deeper with your studies using the actual book. You could certainly tailor it to the needs and character of your particular group.
I purchase all 3 of my girls a copy of the "Guide" around First Communion time.

I love the looks of the Little Women Hospitality group too, and am so glad that there are options that we didn't have 10 years ago! I don't know if I'd be brave enought to tackle this program without some seriously committed mom's to help out. I just know it would eat me alive like a hungry monster.
All those little doo-dads, charms and the supplies for all the different units! My head is spinning just thinking about it. Simple is not my middle name and I know my weaknesses!

Is that the same as what CHC sells?
