Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm looking for a decorator item to put on my mantle to show the religous significance of St. Valentine's Day.

I was really hoping for something not too expensive, but I can't think of what to make for my mantle to accomplish that.

I have no useful suggestions but found this fascinating!

Hm. Maybe one of those wire photo holder things, with an over-sized print of a St Valentine holy card? and use other Valentine symbology as "filler"?

Then you could change out the holy card/image for the various feast days, etc...

It is cheap, too. Do a web search/google for holy card images with what ever saint it is you want to do.

If this is something that you'd like to do every year, I'd suggest making the images onto card stock, and laminating if possible. They'll hold up better. THen you can slip everything into a ziploc bag and put it into a file for that month. Doesn't take up a lot of space.

We have made some thing similar. This particular one is for the apostles so has 12 wires in the pot, but it could easily be one. We have another for Marian feast day images, which has I think three wires.

Here is my blog post "how to" with some links to other craft sites that have instructions for this type of photo holder.

Mary, I think it was your original post of this idea, that gave me the idea to do something like it, lol.

I knew I'd gotten it *somewhere* online, but when you are on a gazillion email lists and message board forums...well, they all tend to run together after a while, lol...

I think I considered making one, but ended up buying a simple one with a ball base at Michael's or JoAnn's, some primer, and gold spray paint for the base.
