Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can you believe it's only 4 weeks away? It starts on November 30 this year!

Posting at Mary Ellen's Christmas blog (multiple authors)O Night Divine blog has resumed this month, with more to come. I just wrote a Preparation for the New Year. I hope you stop by frequently!

Yay! O Night Divine is such a lovely place, just brimming over with delightful topics and ideas. I can hardly wait for Advent this year!

Are you all going to change up the look of the blog itself this year? It was bright red in 2006, a lovely blue in 2007 and in 2008?

Oh yeah! I'm thinking of that wonderful St Andrew's prayer again until Christmas....some new Jesse Tree ornaments, a new idea for a calendar...oh gosh, I hope we can get it all done! I'm looking forward to Advent and the two BIG Marian feast days in December..I have a dear friend who wants to REALLY introduce her children to St Nicholas, I'm looking forward to helping her there...on and on I could go, glad to see other excited mums here too!

Thanks again Mary Ellen for being such an Advent blessing!

It's been nice to see so many ladies with their blog face lifts this year, I wonder if some of the free blog design sites will have some lovely Christmas ones?

Helen, there are many beautiful ones here - Cutest Blog on the Block - however, they only work with blogspot.

Wow, Advent? I guess I SHOULD realize how close it is, our choir is practicing Advent and Christmas music already!!!

I'm not ready at all either, but I AM looking SO forward to it!

Come to think of it, I've already begun listening to my Christmas CDs and my daughter and I are about to begin watching our Christmas DVDs soon!

AHHHH, I just spent a few minutes at that blog, and it's HEAVENLY!!!!

Thank you so much.

We won't be changing the look of the blog. The red was my own horrible creation (artistic I am not) and the blue design was one created by my friend Michele Grunkmeyer who has a web design business. She did a lovely job and I am not about to fiddle with it.

I am trying (oh so slowly) to better organize the site so that readers can more easily find what they are looking for.

I hope everyone enjoys this year at O Night Divine and please feel free to email me mombarr@optonline.net if you have any ideas that you would like to share. I would love to hear from you.

I just want to mention a book I found out about:
Unplug the Christmas Machine

This book is not just about simplifying, but about putting JOY back into your celebration.

It is really helping me to clarify my priorities in terms of activities. Even more importantly, it's helping to clarify my feelings about Christmas. That way, my dh and I can choose what is most important to focus on.

If you feel disappointed, empty or overwhelmed by Christmas and it's preparations--I highly recommend you get your hands on a copy!

Blessings,
ck

I appreciate the book recommendation. I didn't mean to post this to start the commercialization. My post was to deemphasize it, by looking ahead and minimalizing the stress. What are the bare bones plans we need? I don't want that panic button, but I know I want candles and calendars!
