Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have you ever had something happen to you, or something come along your way at such a suspicious time, that you just know God is working through you,(or on you)?

Well I guess we're going to be on television!
Catholic TV asked us to be the first featured family for a new television series they are developing. The series focuses on the lives of Catholic families, (of all varieties, sizes, dioceses, etc)in their own living space. It's about how they live as a family, how they pass down their faith, and what makes their house a home.

The director approached us many, many weeks ago, told us about what they were planning, and said to us "I thought of you guys right away. I couldn't think of a better family to film the pilot show with." I think we all got that 'deer in the headlights' look. Wow...it's an honor, and just so..humbling. Or something. We said 'yes' practically right away, because when you think about it, God obviously wants us to do this. I am a private person by nature, especially about my family, but so many other Catholic families have inspired us through their blogs, this forum, our parish, etc., and it just seems for some reason, the Lord really wants us to do this. It's all reality style tv -- like Extreme Home Makeover and shows like that. They film in the Catholic TV van on the way, telling the viewers about the family they are headed to, show up at your home (with a great big camera crew of course) where your family meets them at the door, and Fr. Bob (and crew)comes in and spends the day with you. You give him a 'cribs' style tour of your house, there are interviews with us, and then he stays as a guest while you make dinner, and all have a meal together. It's an all day filming. They even film in the van after they leave too, for a recap of the day. It seems like it's going to be a wonderful show. The kind of TV we like to watch. : )

I haven't even blogged about this on our family blog yet. I will in the next few days maybe. It's just an odd thing to tell people about for some reason, you know? I didn't even know where to put it here. We created our blog months ago, as were were inspired by so many other Catholic and homeschooling families, and wanted to share back, but also for our families who don't live near us. Turns out our families don't often even visit our blog. If at all : ( We've kept up with it pretty well, even though we're not sure who we're really blogging for sometimes. We'll probably blog about this experience as well, as the filming date is only a couple of weeks away now. So if you'd like to follow along with us on this family adventure, I invite you all to visit our blog now and then. (Comments are welcome.)

We are very, very excited, and maybe just a little nervous. We'll take any little prayers you may have left over to offer, but we do trust in our Heavenly Father that He is at work here, as we put ourselves and our home 'out there' for the world to see.

Hi Jennifer! I'm glad you've been enjoying our blog -- I didn't know you've been visiting. : )
Well....I'm not sure what your daughter knew last about Webington Ringaling. ?? I'm guessing she knew he broke free in our house? If so....the status is that we still have not found him. (yikes!) We're kind of sad...we wanted to watch him grow for awhile at least. If he''s going to grow now though...hopefully he has found his way outside and he's growing out there, and not in our house!

The taping was today and, WOW....we are SO tired! We thought we were prepared, but we realized how real it all was with all of the camera-men, cameras, lights and microphones in our house today. Made us a little more nervous than we were. The people on the street must have really been wondering WHAT was going on over here. It was a lot of work, but enjoyable too. It went really well, we think.

I don't know why I thought this show thing would be interesting to people here (on the forum here), with so many other Catholic families and homeschoolers. I felt kind of silly for posting about it, after 3 responses, but thought I would update anyway, that the taping is done.

I just haven't had free hands to type and tell you that this is exciting.
I'm glad it went well today.

I'm glad that the taping went well. I can't even imagine what a nervous wreck I would have been. So I think it is great your family was able to do it. I think that is really neat that your family was picked to be the first one on this new show. I can't wait to hear when it is on!

And when can we SEE it? It's such fun to think of seeing a 4Real family for real!

Awesome! I am so glad you updated! Laura, the BBC sent two reporters once to do a pre-interview of our family to see if we'd be a fit for a segment they were going to film on South Florida. I know a bit of the mad cleaning and mental jumping jacks you went through! The two ladies were the nicest sunburned girls you've ever met but we lost out to a boat tour of the rich and famous. They did say if we wanted to paint our boat yellow they would definitely include us but they wanted to play that Yellow Submarine song in the background and our boat wasn't (and won't ever be) yellow.

Do let us know when it is broadcast or if there are clips online. I don't have TV but if I know when, I may be able to drop in on a friend for a viewing!

Thank you Ladies.
I'll be blogging about it with a few photos from the day, late tonight or tomorrow night.

Since ours was the pilot show, they have to film more shows before they can start airing them....they said maybe March? But that we'll see a copy before then. Who knows how much sooner before then.

Tracy, trust me when I say this was such an 'out of my comfort zone' situation. My husband and kids really wanted to do it from the get-go. I'm not one for loving being in front of cameras, or home video recorders, never mind ones filming for TV! (Might be why I am the photographer. lol) My DH and I were both nervous when it came down to it, but not the kids. Even my oldest daughter was perfectly comfortable ....just an exciting adventure to them!   I got more nervous after....(ok, still), thinking about what I should have said,...forgot to say..etc. It can drive you nuts. But mostly we did it because we feel God was asking us to. The point of the show was to share our Catholic faith, how we live as a Catholic family, and how we pass our faith down to our children. It was an opportunity to 'evangelize', if you will, in our own quiet-ish way (meaning not preaching), by one example. KWIM? Also, it's the kind of TV we love to watch, and really look forward to watching this show when they go into other families homes, and they share as well. It'll be 'good' inspiring TV, and we wanted to support that when they asked.

Jen---too bad they didn't just let you use the yellow boat! lol. I love your term 'mental jumping jacks'....that fits me nicely. Mind if I borrow it forever? lol.

I appreciate the comments.

Glad to hear it went well, I'd been wondering. Maybe they will put it on youtube so I can watch.

Hi Books---

No, you didn't miss it. We just taped the show on Wednesday. It'll be on Catholic TV, but probably not until March I think. They need to tape other shows, to follow ours (which is the pilot/premier). When we know when it's going to air, I'll be posting it on our blog at least. I guess it'll be airing many times that first week anyway.
Speaking of the Jon and Kate, the Duggers etc....we really enjoyed this educational experience taping this show. It was an exciting event in our family here, but it's not something I/we could do all of the time for sure! I don't know how those families of the shows you mentioned can do it all of the time. We're really happy we did this though.
