Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I need help! I really have no prayer life, and I do not know how to pray. The few times per week that I remember to pray, it seems very childish and weak.

Any advice?

I think praying the Rosary has really enhanced my prayer life. It keeps me focused (my mind has a tendency to wander during prayer). Plus, the Rosary feels so deep and spiritual. I can't help but feel connected to Mary and Jesus. I feel like they are smiling upon me as I pray.

Also, it really doesn't matter what you say. God knows our hearts. Just talk. Do it all the time. If you are happy, let Him know. Say "thank you, God for this beautiful moment." If you are angry, let Him know that too. Say "I'm having a rough day, please guide me and calm me." Anything you are doing and feeling is significant and God wants to hear about it. Just keep the dialog flowing and it will get easier with time.

I'd start with something simple, like

a Morning Offering.

Then maybe whenever you are doing a task during the day that doesn't require much thinking, i.e., laundry, washing dishes, vacuuming, say a Hail Mary.

A really easy one to add is Blessing before Meals -- say slowly with the kids and from the heart.

At night, maybe pray a bedtime prayer with your kids, something simple and spontaneous and from the heart, e.g., Thank You, Lord, for keeping us safe and healthy today, thank You for Your many blessings. Please watch over us tonight as we sleep. Amen.

Later on after those habits have been established you could add more, like 10-15 minutes of Bible reading in the morning, a decade of the Rosary at bedtime.... or come back here and ask for more suggestions

I've read that your desire to prayer is a prayer in itself. I think Thomas Merton said that. (If I find the exact quote, I'll send it along).
