Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There are times in our lives when we pray and pray and pray for a special intention (to become pregnant, to land a wonderful job, to find the perfect house, to have a loved-one healed, etc.)and our prayers are answered with a big, YES! How do you thank God in a way that is proportional to the blessing?

Love,

one thing that comes to mind is to share your story with others as often as you can, giving credit where credit is due (without being obnoxious, LOL!!) I know I have been so moved and honored when others have shared their miraculous stories with us, and it has given us a renewed sense of peace and hope- that God never forgets his own.
I think in general people tend to share their prayer requests or petitions (which is good!!) but often we forget to share our praise reports.
You or your family could also make a tithe of time, talent or treasure "in thanksgiving", kwim??

I don't have time to look this Scripture up, but we repeat it so often in times of answered prayers...somewhere in the Bible it saya, "Get ye up to a high mountain....to testify what the Lord has done." Go find you a mountain, girl!

I'm so happy for you, Angie. In gratitude I feel I need to pray for others, many times the same intentions. Both of our children were prayers answered...hard to conceive, very risky pregnancies, miscarriages, and deliveries. I have a soft spot in my heart for infertile couples. I know the heartbreak, and I am "praying it forward".

A bit like Jenn, we tend to pray for the intentions of others in the area we were blessed in. If we have prayed somewhere specific, like at Walsingham or a particular chapel, I am sort of literal minded enough to go back to say thank you, maybe take flowers or a big big "basket" of more prayers! I feel that the saints love to pray for us, so giving them more prayer needs is a gift!

We can't outdo God, but He'll give us the chance to share our blessings with others many times throughout the gift of our lives in many ways we don't even yet know.

I'm so very happy for you, Angie, that the Lord has answered your long awaited prayer. You waited in humble obedience, and never gave up! What a beautiful example of faith that truly is!

Honestly, I think you do all the time. Just by the way you are here with everyone and by the way I am sure you are IRL. Being a bright, cheery, uplifting person to other children of God is a great way to say, "Thanks for all the blessings!"

Blessings,
Betsie

I always think of the story in the Bible where only one leper came back...it is SO important to thank God.

Ways in which we have in the past is by offering a novena of Masses (after my husband got his new job) and we made a pilgrimage to St Joseph's shrine to do that and kneel in front of him image.

We often have a Mass or Masses offered for those who have prayed for us in some very important intention, offering it for their needs.

Recently my Tuesdays with St Anne and my St Anne packages are my thanksgiving for so many graces received with Annuncia's safe birth (she was breech all through the pregnancy) also for when I was critically sick afterwards, to pull out of it all.

Also offering another novena in thanksgiving...I believe that is the set up of the 54day rosary novena for instance. 3 Novenas offered, 3 in thanksgiving.

In a way, I try to think very simply, what would bring a smile to their face?...so as to say...

Awesome ideas, ladies! To summarize:

Shout from a mountain about your blessings and give God the credit through praise reports.

Tithe time, talent, treasure - your special gift to others - in thanksgiving.

Offer a Mass or a novena of Masses of thanksgiving.

Offer a 54 day rosary (3 Novenas offered, 3 in thanksgiving.)

Pray forward for others with the same intention that has been granted to you.

Return to people and places where prayers have been offered to give thanksgiving.

Share more prayers with the saints who love to pray for us.

Be an example of persistence, patience, and thanksgiving through prayer.

Share your joy in Christ with others as an ongoing sign of thanksgiving.

****************

The only thing I can add is that our family remembers anniversary dates of major blessings and so the celebration and thanksgiving continues over time.

Thank you all for sharing!

Love,
