My daughter and I have thoroughly enjoyed the Devotional Stories for Little Folks from CHC. We have both volumes. We begin each day reading one of the stories and have laughed and cried along with each one. Having a "view" into the life of another Catholic family living out our faith has been such a boon to my daughter's understanding of our faith. I so wish that there were more volumes! Can anyone recommend any books that are similar?

There is a second volume - Devotional Stories for Little Folks Too. It is in the most recent catelogue (spring 2008) p. 22.

We use the Little Visits Devotionals. They are not specifically Catholic, but they work for us. The ones that I have are older versions because I picked them up at garage sales and such, but it doesn't look like they have changed them. They have a little story, then some questions, then a scripture reading and a prayer. It takes about 10 minutes and seems to start our day on the right foot.

We have a vintage bound set of the first nine Catholic Children's Treasure Box magazines which I got from Amazon, and my little kids love it. It's very sweet (sometimes almost too sweet for my ironic nature, but not for my kids). There are stories about St. Therese and the Blessed Mother, about children with various besetting sins (my children love a story about a little boy who lies, and then finds that when he opens his mouth to tell a a lie, all he can do is crow like a rooster), about guardian angels, etc. Even my rather hardheaded five-year-old son, who likes to say things like, "Well, I guess I'M not going to Mass . . . " now suddenly also talks about loving God, folding his hands properly when he prays, etc.
Anyway, it's a real hit with my 4- and 5yos, and my 10yo actually enjoys it, too.

Thank you, everyone, for the ideas.
Donnalynn, while I was searching through the Seton catalog, I saw the This is Our Valley book listed with the 3rd grade curriculum. I thought it may be a good choice to use as a devotional - although the text looks very easy for third grade. So, I was thinking about getting one from the series at a higher reading level. Do you know if the content would still be appropriate for her age?
The Catholic Childrens Treasure box looks very interesting too - I'll check into those.

This is a bit off-topic, but this reminds me of Children's Book of Virtues. Remember the story of the boy who wouldn't say please? Though it's a bit more labor intensive up front on your part, you *can* develop a devotional around character traits.
Another nice thing we have used (and will again) is Our 24 Family Ways. It's not Catholic, but we could easily work with it.
