Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

In the words of Father Z . . .

"Thanks be to Pope Benedict, who has given back to the Church and the world a great gift."

Amen!

My 3 yo isn't allowing total concentration this morning, but I'm enjoying the reading. The Pope's letter is truly beautiful.

Father Z. has some terrific comments on the text.

He had a great entry yesterday that had some good points. We don't want this to become divisive. I love how the Pope is showing the seamlessness of the 1962 and 1970 missal -- they shouldn't be considered two rites. Paul VI 1970 is the ordinary, and 1962 extraordinary! Beautiful!

It still leaves me lots of questions...but I'll keep praying. The Archdiocese of DC's paper had some quotes saying it really doesn't matter or apply to US, because there is very little interest. I find that hard to believe.

I do too. I think some priests are going to be very surprised at how this takes form (so to speak )

My house is all a buzz with excitement this morning and we have adopted Fr. Z's phrase "Save the Liturgy - Save the World!" (Heroes fans will get this)

We're e-mailing the document and Fr. Z's excellent points to our pastor, liturgy coordinator and religious ed director!

Have you seen Fr. Finnegan's celebratory video?

Jane, your brother is hilarious!

This is from Fr. Z's site as well, parts of this are hysterical!

By the way I forgot mention this, please don't hotlink it - it draws bandwidth from my server
(which I have to pay for), rather save the image and upload it to your own host server. Thanks!
