Does anyone have a good source of modeling beeswax and the crayons? I am having trouble finding the modeling wax.

I'm not sure about the modeling beeswax but the crayons are at
Magic Cabin
This only shows the block type being available right now but I've seen the regular crayons other times in the catalog.

Marilyn, they are also sold through Nova Natural and A Child's Dream Come True. 
(I linked the crayons, but both sites carry the modeling beeswax as well.)

Uhh ohh, Dawn, I was trying to be so good with the budget -- I'd forgotten about these 2 catalogs....they make me drool with their lovely stuff. They have the Waldorf-y stuff that I really like to use.....my dh will not be too happy with you!

I like Paper Scissors Stone, too.
You can also order them at wholesale prices from Mercurius, but there is a $150 minimum. Great if you are pooling with others!

I go to a Waldorf school and they have a store. You might try looking up a school in your area and asking if they have a store.

Thanks for all the ideas. What lovely sites (dangerous for my pocketbook!!)
Are the Stockmar crayons worth the price? My little guy's 3rd birthday is on the 9th - and he has really taken to art in the last few weeks - so I thought I would get him the higher quality stuff (of course all the older ones are going to want to use them too!!)

Hi Marilyn,
We purchased a set of my dd's 4th birthday (2/17). I'm not sure if they're worth the price but I'm pretty tired of broken crayons! We bought her Crayola Twistables for Christmas & those break whenever you drop them on the floor - & then they don't work!

Brenda, my littlest got those when he was 3-1/2 for christmas -- I thought I was so smart to pay the extra for them -- till he wound them ALL THE WAY out and you can't get them back in. So we had long skinny crayon bits all over the house!

Ooh, sorry Mary! I know ... I could go crazy at those places! Those natural materials are so wonderful!
I have found the crayons *do* last and are very hard to break. The colors are gorgeous. My youngest breaks the Crayolas very quickly (usually without even meaning to).
We have only ever had the modeling beeswax once, and it was hard to work with. (But beautiful colors and smelled so sweet!)
I know the Waldorf schools have the children take very little pieces and warm it in their hands while they listen to a story. Then by the time the story is done, the wax has warmed up and is pliable.
