Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone know which are the best places to study music performance abroad (non-US)? We are making the list of places where Libby would like to apply (eek!), and she has a friend who studies abroad and loves it (UK--Royal something of Music? Does that sound right?).

Libby doesn't want to go west of the Mississippi, but east of the Atlantic is OK, she says . Ideas?

Macbeth

The Con in Sydney is considered the best here in Australia but very hard to get into. I think the Brisbane one is good also but I only know about those two. My cousin got into the one in Perth and travelled overseas with a symphony but I really don't know much about it.

Is she interested in a classical education or something connected with modern stage productions? Of course there are also academies set up entirely for liturgical music.

Exciting!

It could be either the Royal Academy of Music or the Royal College of Music. Both have a good reputation - I don't know if one is any better than the other. Another conservatoire in London is the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

There are others outside London, such as the Birmingham Conservatoire. Again, I don't know anything much about it, but the new Symphony Hall in Birmingham is world class. And Jane lives there (In Birmingham I mean, not in the Symphony Hall )

My homebirthing midwife's daughter got into the conservatorium in Brisbane with the help of a Catholic homeschooling mother who trained her.(Viola)

This Catholic lady's husband is Concertmaster with the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra (he studied at the Conservatorium) - there are other good Catholic talent in the Orchestra as well. (I think they are slowly converting them all! )
