Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I first learned about this Winter Wonderland Mixed Media Workshop from the Home Grown Learners blog.

After my attempts to organize seasonal fall crafts on my own via Pinterest failed- we did only one fall project!- I decided that I would take a chance on this so the Christmas craft season would not also pass us by. Somehow if I have to pay for something I am much more motivated to make time for it.

Anyway, we started this week with the mixed media snowman pictured in the upper right corner. I have to say it was a lot of fun, and I know that I will want to keep the pictures my kids made as a part of my "seasonal decor" forever- they just turned out so cute.

Today we learned to paint watercolor wreaths... when I first saw them, I thought: hmm... how did she ever make those? But they are so very doable!

My kids are really enjoying this program- learning new techniques and some new art terms as well. I was leery of spending the money (we got the early bird rate available before Nov 30), but I think it has already been worth it after two projects. Some of our projects will become gifts for grandparents.

I just wanted to post this review in case anyone else has been looking at this program and wondering if it's good. It is!

Do you think a boy of 10 years who has little art ability but loves doing projects and is interested in doing some art but his mother does not have time to over see it could complete this own his own?

Of course, it looks really neat and I would love to do it if I could find the time. $48 is a lot to spend on some art projects though!

Well, for a ten year old, I do think it would be better to do the projects with an adult. You will need to know what supplies are required.... some things you will have around he house, but others, like gesso, you may need to buy.
Watching the video portion together will give you a heads up for that.

The projects are not too complicated or time consuming, but questions do come up. Some of the projects are completed in steps- they might need drying time, for example. I know some moms in the course are saving time on the weekends to do them with their kids. If time is an issue, that might work for you.

Half the fun of this course for us is that we are doing it together, yk? My dc LOVE it when mom works with them on an art project. And I admit that though I am also of limited artistic ability, I truly enjoy messing with the paints, etc and seeing what I (and my kids) come up with. It is relaxing for me.... much more so than another round of laundry

HTH
