Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The Great Art Scandal
By Anna Nilsen

I recently spent a rainy afternoon with dd working through this book. Wow! Think you have an eye for detail? This will challenge you! At least, it challenged me .

At first it was a little confusing... you have to read and pay attention to the directions. But once we got going it was so much fun- and pretty addictive.
We could not put it down! The book had a wide variety of paintings by artists pretty much across the board, and by the end of the book we both felt sure we would never forget "The Lady in Black"   or "Rabbi with a Cat"
or "Rocky Mountains and Tired Indians".

I think it is safe to say that if we ever saw any of the paintings from the book anywhere, we would most likely recognize them for the rest of our lives .

I ordered another book in the series "Art Fraud Detective" for dd to stash away for Christmas.

These look awesome Melinda. Can you only buy them used now? My kids would love something like this for Christmas.

Melinda - I just bought the Art Fraud detective used on Amazon. The condition was not as great as I expected and I am trying to figure out if something is damaged or if the book is supposed to be that way.. The majority of pages in the book are cut in half horizontally - is yours the same?

Thanks,

Marilyn-

I am sorry that I missed your August post. Yes, they can only be bought used now, and yes, the pages are supposed to be cut. This was very confusing to us at first, but we quickly caught on as far as how it all worked. It's not hard- just a very different concept than other books.
Basically you are looking at the intact pages and using the cut ones to flip through to look for clues or for reference. It turns out to be very handy having them set up that way.

I also have the Art Fraud Detective stashed away for dd. I am looking forward to working through it with her. I hope you enjoy it as well!

Thanks Melinda. I have not really looked at the book yet. I did notice a little transparent bookmarky thing at the front - what is this for?

Hmm... I did not notice that, but I have my copy stashed away. I will have to look at it again!

Could it be the magnifying glass?
