Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

That looks so tempting!

On a separate note, Melinda, have you used the First and Second grade programs? I have K and 2nd, and we've done the K but not 2nd. We are having friends join us for our art lessons this year, and I am very tempted to buy the 1st grade program instead, principally because the theme of around the world appeals, and I could double it with the geography picture book selecttions from Mater Amabilis. Of course, my oldest is 10, though my friend's oldest is just turned 8 like my second, and my oldest still liked the K projects we've done (over the last couple of years since he was 8 ).

Anyway, I wondered if you had an opinion about whether I should use what I have or go ahead and spend the extra $18 to get the first grade program, too

Lindsay-

Looking back, I wish we had started with the first grade (or even K) dvd, really. We missed out on the around the world theme, which would have been lots of fun.

I do all the projects with my kids and haven't felt that any of the projects (we started with Grade 2 ) were beneath my artistic skills . I have enjoyed doing them very much, and I think your around the world theme sounds great. So I would go ahead and buy the Grade 1.

This past year, with my kids in grade 3 and 5, we did the grade 3 dvd, and that was fine. The year before that we alternated grades 2 and 4 over 18 months (started in the summer). This fall we will do grade 5, and I am already put out that next year I will have to go looking for something new... . I am very tempted by the holiday dvd, since it will make it really easy get in some fun crafts (without me having to search them out on line).

What I like best about this program is that my kids will repeat the projects on their own over and over. When we did the watermelon painting from grade 2, we had watermelon (and other fruit) popping up in drawings for six months afterwards. And I still get a lot of fruit bowl type paintings .
