Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Really, I'm not trying to push my 4 year old dd into anything. She found my recorder and wants to play. The constant blowing of non-descript notes is really NOT music to my ears (this recorder was 'found' before and promptly hidden by me. This is a recent rediscovery). I told her I would get a book and she could learn to play. So now, she's constantly asking me to learn to play.

I found Penny Gardner's site and downloaded the five free pages - the first five - from her book. The site recommends starting small kids (age 5 and 6) to learn to play Mary Had a Little Lamb and Hot Cross Buns by rote.

Any advice? Is she still too young? She really does LOVE music - all types - is there another instrument I should start with? Another method?

I am a big fan of the Suzuki method, and my kids started learning at three. Penny's book is very simple, and with the CD, you could "Suzuki" the recorder with her. I say you go with her interest.
