Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

we don't have this problem that was posted on another list.....

Last week, I had a Mozart's birthday party here at my house to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth and when I went to get the words "Happy Birthday,Mozart" put on the cake with colored icing, the bakery clerk did not know who Mozart was, much less how to spell his name. She just stared blankly at me, then had me spell it slowly. I said, "You know... Mozart. The composer?" She said she'd never heard of him. I left the grocery store grieved about this -- especially in light of the fact that Charlotte Mason fought for a rich education for EVERY child, wealthy or poor, aristocrat or servant. What have we done to our children? They don't learn anything about the arts anymore at all!

So I guess we're changing the culture, a little bit at a time: MY kids know who Mozart is and now Tchaikovsky, Manet and Homer. THANKS Amy and Sarah for keeping us knowledgeable about all these wonderful gifts of culture.

I've been wanting to say thank you also. Here's a good place to do it! I've been setting a painting a week as the background on my computer and we've been listening to CD's I already owned by the composer of the month. It's so simple, yet I wouldn't have done this by myself. There's something about knowing other homeschooling Moms are doing it too that motivates me. The kids were excited on February 1st. My ds 5 told my husband, "Today we're going to have a new artist and a new composer!" Thanks to both of you.

Oh, that's sad.

Yes, THANK YOU. This is a wonderful resource, to help us. What a blessing in the way you two are serving others, and blessing families.

Just a "few things" -- I think that's why my dh cringes when he sees the red "4 real" banner -- he knows another order is going into Amazon

I also want to say thanks. Neither music or art are my strong points so I am enjoying doing this in a more focused way. We just got a few things from the library (books and cd's) and read a little online when they said yes. Today my ds8 tells me how much he liked the Mozart cd we got and requested it again. And my dd6 was listening to the cd and say hey we heard this song from this other place. How neat!! Thanks.

And this month our homeschool group is going to the National Gallery of Art so I can't wait to take some time afterwards to look with the kids. We did this last year and I was surprised at how long we stayed on their choosing!

Something simple like that that we did was download a ring-tone composition by that composer for the cell phone.

And yes, thanks Sarah and Amy for the motivation to actually focus on this each month. It's fun.
