Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I asked here for info on folk music around the world, and you wonderful ladies didn't let me down.

We have finished our African folk song study with homemade ankle bells. These are great fun, and real easy. (They also sound great with Christmas songs)

Joanne -- I'm used Catherine Doherty's Donkey Bells for meditation this Advent (reading bits and pieces to the kiddoes too!) and she has an excellent essay on The First Church Bells (you can read the essay here) and the wearing of bells.

I just might need to make a few of these to see if the kids notice ....

I remember attaching bells on our shoes during the Advent season at school. Eventually the teacher had to nix it, but it was so much fun to jingle. I got some lovely ones that had some great tones.... Ah, the memories!

I used to do this when I worked up in DC after undergrad ... I'd come in with bells pinned inside my skirt and bell earrings and often a bell necklace -- the days of celebrating youthful exhuberance!
