Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I want to get the Nutcracker on DVD.   Does anyone have a favorite version that the kids will enjoy?

The Nutcracker (1993) is the one we have. It is classic Balanchine and I love the NYC Ballet...you just have to somehow get past MacCauley Culkin...which is hard for me...but...my younger don't notice him and my older children get some chuckles from him (God bless MacCauley, I honestly think that he is doing the best that he can .)

I would like to hear about other options.

Love,

We love the same one. It has the advantage of being narrated, which you don't get when you see it in a live performance.    Kevin Kline does the narration and I like his voice.

This one has always been my favorite, since I was a young dancer. It's Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gelsey Kirkland...I don't know if it's as entertaining as the NYC ballet one...but if there are dancers in your house who appreciate the beauty of perfect ballet...this is lovely.

I guess you can't go wrong with Baryshnikov!

Maybe I'll have to get both!

Thanks everyone!
