Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can someone recommend a quality brand of watercolors for children? I want to implement painting more in our everyday routine...on picnics and such; but, have been terribly disappointed with the watercolors I've purchased in our little town (we only have a dollar store). So, I plan on buying some online.

Also, as I am no expert, are there some basic steps to use/teach the kids to paint properly with them? My goal is to have the supplies set out on a tray so they can use them whenever they are inspired this summer.

Thanks!

Prang is a step up in quality from the Crayola and Roseart which are commonly sold, so is good choice particularly for the younger set. This is mostly what we used to get started.

For higher quality, the art program we use, Artistic Pursuits, recommends Cotman and Grumbacher which they say give good color results without being too pricey. These would be available on-line or in art stores. Dick Blick is usually a good place for decent prices.

We have Prang. I use Crayola for the 2 and 3 year olds, but once they get to age 4...mine have all wanted "paints like Mommy's", which were Prang, because the color is WAY BETTER!

I also have a set of Grumbacher for me....but the girls are always begging to use them, as it is definietely a step up and they can see it.

Have any of you ever used the Stockmar Watercolors? Should I just focus on the Grumbacher instead? They are certainly more affordable! My dd has used up all of her pink and is desperate for more. Epic crisis here!
