Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I borrowed Encouraging the Artist in Your Child from the library and it is such a great book, I think Amazon will need to send me a copy .

Sally Warner is an art teacher, a parent and an artist. These 3 "vocations" meld into a lady that can make me feel confident to even have my 2-1/2 yo "doing art". She is a firm believer in the simpler, less instruction, the better; she encourages the use of simple or homemade(rather than packaged) tools; her craft projects sound like they'd be real for the child (with minimal impact -- ie, mess -- on the household).

Altho her target is for encouraging kids outside of school hours, her ideas would apply in the homeschool art class too. She has age-appropriate suggestions for 2-10 yo (and older kids would probably enjoy these ideas too), so the whole gang is covered.

This is a book for the parent to sit down and really read, but it also has projects to go back to (ever dyed pasta or tinted glue ?).

Enjoy!
