Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Now I need some resources for good childrens plays, since I now have several families wanting to join us. So any ideas???

hi,
have you checked the library or on-line? maybe the older children and your dh and you could adapt a children's book. i think the little engine that could would make a great play for younger kids-many characters and repeated lines.

Chicken lady,
I have had the same thought many times... I just have to wait till more kids around here are big enough!

While i was doing some Shakespeare research I found several possibilities that looked interesting:

Shakespeare in a box has 45 minute shortened scripts and a couple of props come with. King Lear and Taming of the Shrew are the 2 they have.

Praise him with your very life is a collection of religious plays that CHC offers.

I think I saw another collection somewhere in another catalog? A Thanksgiving play?

I have not actually seen any of these, but I have repeatedly been tempted to buy them! Your assessment if you get one would be appreciated!

Also, check your local library....

I would not hesitate to tackle a full length Shakespearean production. We had so much fun with it this year, and the kids--young and old--rose to the occasion, learning so much and really pulling it off. We stated with A Midsummer Night's Dream, but I hope this will become an annual event for us with other plays in the coming years.

Alice,
I looked at your blog on MSND this morning. It made me so happy!
I have a q for you though(you can pm me if its better--I don't want to hijack this thread). What did you do about bawdy or unsuitable lines? It's been so long since I've read Midsummer night's dream, I can't remember if there is much of that...

Thanks,
CK

Butler's plays offers a number of scripts for children's productions...you will want to read through the script first though because they can have some strange things in them that I would not deem appropriate..we have simply changed the wrding or directed the children differently than what was suggested by the script and it worked out fine. Can't find their link right no but did find
this one that looks great.
