Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We're listening to Verdi this month (mainly because my dc love the Anvil Chorus ). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for related read-alouds? Needs to be simple stuff because of the age of my gang.

Well, there's this Verdi but there's not much music in it!

Anvil ChorusThe STory of Giuseppe Verdi
by Helen L. Kaufmann
Credo Books 1964

Unfortunately I haven't read this book yet. I bought it because I have greatly enjoyed the music encyclopedia by Helen Kaufmann
Histories 100 Great Composers.

It's 180 pages. A chapter book. I've found with books about composers a little goes a long way. A paragraph or a page from a book gives enough to think about in connection with the music.

(I also found a book about Prokoviev and operas by this author. Still unread.)
