Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Wow! I want a blackboard now!

BLACKBOARD SKETCHING by FREDERICK WHITNEY

Click on the plates for the lessons. I sure wish they had taught me this in my education courses! How neat! It would have been so useful. Well, except for the whiteboard classrooms I had, but that dusty chalkboard classroom would have been so cool with sketches all over it!

PS - wash your chalkboards with Murphy's Oil Soap. It cuts the dust and shines the board and makes it all look like new! Only problem is I can't stand the smell of Murphy's now, smells like my classroom to me.

Oh Jennifer, this is very interesting. I think chalk is a great medium anyway.

I have a friend who used to draw chalk pictures on her chalk boards because she was allergic to chalk. At the end of a unit, our sweet maintainence guy would thoroughly clean her blackboards. The next day she would come in with some dustless chalk (which is better, but not entirely dustless) and draw beautiful unit-themed pictures on the boards (there were four in our rooms). Then she'd put the chalk away. Because the pictures were so beautiful, neither she nor the 7th graders she taught were tempted to draw on the boards at all. She used an overhead projector to deseminate information.
