Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone used this resource? Any comments? It looks like something my son would like...

Patty,

We get the email newsletter, but frankly I haven't even looked at it yet!

I've been using this magazine for years. We love it and haven't found anything that would be disagreeable. I haven't used the Middle Ages one yet, though.

I have a subscription for the kids. We haven't used it much, but it is full of info and is well done. It's one of those many unused resources sitting on my shelves.

On the Catholic writers' list I'm on, a couple people just mentioned writing for them.

That doesn't mean it's a Catholic publication, but I've heard good things about it. I haven't ordered it, though.

I think I'll put it in my back pocket for next year. Thanks all!

I have subscribed to the newsletter that corresponds with this magazine and find it to be a wonderful, free resource.

I was disappointed to search this forum and find this thread that indicates people are not using the magazine. But, I am also glad to get this feedback and will put subscribing to the magazine on the back burner.

However, I would like to enthusiastically recommend the newsletter. I was just looking through the archives - there is a ton of information with links to articles, recommended reading and activities to go with different time periods. As we will be working on SOTW II soon and moving into the Renaissance and the age of exploration, I found some great resources.

Here is a link to the newsletter archives: Learning Through History Newsletter Archives

Also, one of the links I came across while searching through the exploration materials is this one:
Interactive lessons

I LOVE LOVE LOVE can I say that 100X more to use the magazine...I don't know do the newsletter.

Depending on what we're studying...say for instance most recently it has been Ancient Rome. Dd in the 7th grade gets assigned certain articles to read. I read certain articles out loud to the younger set. All the dc love it!

I have two friends who also use the magazine itself. I would recommend it...it's great fun when it arrives!

I started out with a bunch of back issues a couple of years ago and we enjoyed them so much I purchased a two year subscription!

I use it much the same way KackyK describes.

There's really a little something in there for everyone - we especially like some of the recipes - when oldest dd was doing 5th grade work she made an entire Egyptian "feast" for us for dinner one night!

I like that I can pick and choose the different articles according to grade level or interest.

Highly recommended here!
