Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A fun resource I just stumbled upon: Classic Toy Soldiers. This company has plastic molded soldiers from a plethora of eras-ranging from American Revolution to the Zulu Wars, from the Alamo to Custer's Last Stand, with lots of neat accessories (that up the prices substantially on the otherwise reasonable toy figurines...but some of the extras are pretty darn hard to resist!) Anyway, a nifty, hands-on teaching/imagination-provoking tool for bloodthirsty...er...I mean, CREATIVE young learners !

Hi Mary, I'm not Kelly, but it's classictoysoldiers.com.

I'm glad you posted this Kelly -- I was drooling over the expensive ones at hobbybunker.com (King and Country brand). I did find some nice unpainted ones at toysoldierco.com - the brand Caesar miniatures. they have them at hobbybunker too but not the same selection.

Oh, I saw those gorgeous ones at hobbybunker.com, too. Although we got the plain blue Foreign Legion guys, what I REALLY wanted was the Complete Battle of Yorktown Set...but it was too pricey for the pocketbook sigh Still, lots of other fun, afordable goodies, even without the Complete Yorktown Set!

Another shameless plug for Classic Toy Soldiers. Our Foreign Legionnaires and Arab Warriors (my kids are calling them Tuaregs since watching "Beau Geste") arrived in a very timely fashion and are a huge success. The dc actually turned down the offer of a movie AND computer time to play out some desert battle or another. Highly recommended (just make sure you get compatible sized soldiers if you order more than one set!)
