Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I love the book list materambalis has for STSS. I am looking for something similar for All Ye lands-I don't need lesson plans, so I don't think CHC guide would be a good fit-I really just need a good list of literature-anyone make such a thing yet? :)

I have been using the following list for world culture

The Golden Goblet (ancient Egypt)
The God King (ancient Egypt) *a favorite here
Boy of the Pyramids (ancient Egypt for younger crowd)

A Single Shard (Korea; 700's?) *favorite

Augustine Came to Kent ( early England)

Big John's Secret (England, Middle Ages)

The Thieves of Ostia (Roman times; heroine is a girl)

The Door in the Wall (Middle Ages) *favorite

D"Aulaires Book of Greek Myths

Robin Hood (Howard Pyle)

Tales of King Arthur (Usborne version)

The Hidden Treasure of Glaston

The Bronze Bow *favorite time of Jesus)

Marie Tangle Hair (1600 Canada) *favorite

Castle Diary (Middle Ages)

Clare and Francis
St. Louis
Philip Neri

We tried St. Helen and the True Cross... neither kid here liked it, so we dropped it

Have not read yet but are on the list for this year:
The Second Mrs. Giaconda (Renaissance)
The Shakespeare Thief
The King's Fifth by Scott O'Dell
Madeleine Takes Command by Ethel C. Brill (1600's Canada)
The Switherby Pilgrims by Eleanor Spence (Australia)
Children of the Storm by Natasha Vins (modern times)

This is a mish mash list being used for two kids, ages 11 and 13. Some are independent reading; others are read aloud. Hope that helps!

This is a good list that you might be able to pull from. It is organized chronologically rather than by culture.

Also, the World History list from Mater Amabilis is good as well.
