Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ok first off i have a dd with unusual tastes for around where we live but i hope as fellow homeschool mom's you will get it

DD and i stumbled upon this pbs cooking /history /travel show called New scandinavian cooking with Tina Anderson. It is really great. Meet the sami , check out reindeer cook in the icepalace etc..

it started of a whole flurry of internet and library activity...astridlindgren of course especially her Brenda Brave, Families sweden from families of the world video series, all kinds of reindeer books/videos, Santa Lucia books and saint day(we got invited to make lussikater with a real swedish family -it pays to ask around )
Snipp snapp snurr/flicka ricka dicka, viking books, etc..

Anyway we just got a purchase request from the library -only a couple of months late but she still enjoyed it and I thought it was so wonderful I had to share. It is by Norweigan Princess Martha Louise and it is called WHy kings and Queens don't wear crowns. It is a very lovely tale of how norway's new royal family came from denmark in 1905.
Check it out

Btw although a lot of people think dd is a bit odd I love her trains of thought /interests. It helps that i am similiar.
from 2-3 in was sheep and wool from 3-4 it was sumo wrestling and japanese children's sports day and this last year scandinavia. I cant wait to see what this year brings...
