Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi friends,
I am wondering what resources you have used for Us history. I have heard that the Hakim series is not the most appropiate to use because of the anti- Catholic slant. What do you use?
thanks,
chris

We have been enjoying Sonlight 3. We did half last year and started the second half a few weeks ago.

I am using Hakim, but my child is older than yours (almost 14).

We really enjoyed This Country of Ours last year.

Another possibility, more textbook-y but guaranteed to be free of anti-Catholic bias, is
From Sea to Shining Sea: The Story of America.I haven't seen that one but it is used by the Catholic CM-yMater Amabilis.

Serendipity has a year long study of American History with a variety of book suggestions for different age groups. From Sea to Shining Sea is just one of them. I was looking at it yesterday. Looks fun.

I used From Sea To Shining Sea over a 2 year period with my then age 12-13 year old son. We basically read the chapters and a lot of historical fiction in between. We mostly used the reccomendations from MA. We both enjoyed it very much! He also learned a lot from the Jim Weiss CDs on Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln.
