Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just wanted to share some great resources that we will be using next year for CHC's Tour of the Continents. I am planning on really incorperating our beautiful Catholic faith as we travel around. My girlfriend recomended Our Friends from Other Lands from Pauline Books. It's out of print but it is well worth the search for this little gem! It contains stories of saints, unknown Catholic heros, and interesting information about the country they live in. We are also planning on using The Stories of the Child Jesus form Many Lands, Journeys with Mary and The Little Cousins Series. We will hang up images of the different apparations of Jesus and Mary on each location we study as well as miracles of the Blessed Sacrament. I also found a great little gem on www.archive.org it is called Legends of the Blessed Sacrament. There are stories of the Blessed Sacrament from almost any country that go all the way back to the days of the catacombs. I thought it would be nice since my son will be making his 1st Holy Communion next year. I think it would enhance any history or geography program! By the way the archive website has the most darling Catholic readers called The Catholic Standard Readers and they are from the early 1900's.They are in partial color and free who can beat that!! I have printed them off and they are so sweet! The archive site is a great resource not to mention it's free!!!

If anyone else has great ideas for CHC's Tour of the Continents I would love to "borrow" your ideas!

Godbless,
Cheryl

Cheryl,
Here is an old thread with some ideas.
CHC Tour the Continents

If you do a search in "Across Time and Place" for CHC and the name of each continent you will also find threads with ideas for specific continents.

Serendipity is also doing continents this year, so far Africa is posted:

Thank you for sharing your ideas. My daughter has so enjoyed learning about other peoples and cultures - these ideas will help us build on this.

Could you give a link to the archive with the Catholic Standard Readers?

How did I do that? Well the readers link works! When you go to the archive page do a search in all texts and type in Legends of the Blessed Sacrament and the Mother Mary Loyola. You could also do a search just for Catholic as well.

Good luck!
Cheryl
