Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone who use this have any opinions on it? I am interested in it - but cannot find anywhere with reviews or with sample pages.

Marilyn,

Cathy Duffy gives a review of this book in her book 100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum. You can probably find her book in the library. Karen

Marilyn,
I have it and we used it several years ago as a kind of spine. I don't remember the kids being terribly enthralled by it, but it was good background info for me. I know a good friend of mine has loved reading it aloud to her kids, and they loved it.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about it and I can go pull it off a shelf.

Hi, there!

I missed this when it was first posted--I'm interested in this book, too, and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on it. I'm trying to decide what to use for 8th grade history--is this book too simplistic for 8th grade?

I tend to "lean" on a textbook, and there doesn't seem to be much out there other than this one and the Anne Carroll book(s). We've done the Fr. Furlong books in earlier grades and did a relatively simple course in American Government last year, but I don't want to dive heavily into an "Ancient Worlds" focus on Greece & Rome until 9th grade.

Any opinions would be appreciated!
