Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are very excited and honored by an invitation to a Vietnamese Barbecue, given by friends of ours from the diaconate program.

Can anyone offer suggestions for hostess gifts?

We're very adventurous eaters, so we're looking forward to Phuong's menu. We're brushing up on basic Vietnamese phrases, at the very least "Thank you". And we're wondering if it would be appropriate for the girls and me to wear traditional dress, though I'm certain they're expecting us to wear western dress.

Such fun!

Flowers are considered a good gift, I seem to remember, but you might want to check what kind as their flower language is different from ours.

Yes, I seem to remember from my protocol training that gifts in multiples of four, and chrysanthemums were to be avoided...

Blessings,
