Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This was suggested in an article by Maureen Wittman and it is a great living read -- for high schoolers: The Parrot's Theorem: A Novel by a French professor, Dennis Guedj.

I just started reading it today and it's great -- gives the history of math and (glancing ahead) all about the people behind all the math theorems in a great mystery/story that is engaging from the git-go. Can't wait to cuddle up with it tonight

Theresa and Leonie -- this is definitely an older kids books -- some of the discussions of theorems etc are pretty philosophical and the story is a bit older audience (unmarried mom of twins, etc....
But it really is a great teen-level Maths book with lots of discussion of the history of math and the players behind it.

Enjoy!
