Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please help a craft-impaired mom. I just bought some gnome figures that are 2" tall. I bought them via a catalog: A Child's Dream Come True. I couldn't find any locally. Our jewels would look like cheese wheels in their little hands. I'm thinking about 3.5" doll forms ... ?What size doll forms did you use?

Three-and-a-half wood doll bodies are exactly what I used to make our gnomes.

hhhmmmm....I made the gnomes twice. Once as a "trial" as I was figuring out how to do the hats, etc. The first ones were bigger, and I just checked - they were 2 1/2 inch bodies. The second set I made, that I like better and we are using, are actually smaller, and the bodies are 2 inches.

BTW, your cheese wheel comment cracked me up.

I have no idea what kind they were, becuz for once, I actually had the bodies in my craft bucket.

Oh - another difference - the larger ones the bodies were straight below the neck. the smaller ones, the bodies kind of curve out. Not sure if I am being clear....

Mine are teeny, barely 2 inches tall. My bodies are from the local craft store. They sound just like Laura's actually. I blogged about my gnomes here.

I decided to buy the 3" versions. My theory is that little hands will better be able to manipulate bigger gnomes and little eyes will better be able to take in the colors and larger symbols. Besides, we can use the 2" ones to be baby Jesus for our Nativity set and other babies for our various dollhouse dolls we're making.

Thank you all for your help!
