Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ds12 still doesn't know his tables Now it occurs to me that this child who is such an aural learner could easily pick it up with a 'catchy' tune. Does anyone know of any available 'dvd' that is downloadable for free online?

He would be a really quick study if it had an upbeat tune, he can hear any jingle once and repeat the lyrics effortlessly. Chanting isn't working but something else could. Oh in Australia we say the tables opposite to the USA, so it would be really great if I could find it that way, but I won't be too picky at this stage

We ended making up our own. We have different tunes for each set: songs from Jimmy Buffett ("Volcano" for the 7's, "Can you Feel the Love Tonight" from Lion King for the 6's) to Mozart.
The girls worked out the tunes --it made sense to them(even the number 42-which seems to have about 5 syllables when singing the seven's to Buffett's, "Volcano").
I ocasionally laugh to hear their music choices, but they were young and eclectic.

DD#3 has inherited the tunes but doesn't rely on them as heavily as her older sisters did (At least I think the term is DID, DD#1 says she has occasionally found herself humming the Lion King song at college ).

We're in the same boat with the 12yo here, Erin. I'm expecting a package I won on eBay that includes the Math-U-See skip counting cassette. Sorry I can't help you with anything online, but perhaps a search for skip counting might yield you a free download.

It dawned on me the other day that ds 11, who is the "math whiz" (according to his older sister), actually never learned his times tables in the usual way (e.g. "6x7 is 42"), but figured it out on his own by skip counting...a skill I never taught him.

Anyway, on the MUS demo video, Steve Demme sings the skip counting song for 3, which is set to the tune of "Jingle Bells" ("3,6,9...12,15...18,21"). DD 12 picked up on that right away, so I'm anxious for that package to arrive, and maybe, JUST MAYBE, we will get over this darned stumbling block!

We have the Audio Memory but the kids think it is too obnoxious. I seem to remember that School House Rock had some multiplication songs. I will have to look for that because I have some that still struggle with it too.
