This year, I am planning to dedicate a large portion of Lent to preparing my children for the Easter Vigil. Our copywork will consist of specific prayers from the Vigil including the beautiful and ancient Exsultet (the Easter Proclamation). Because the Exsultet is quite long, the children will copy it in short pieces for about two or three weeks. I am hoping this gradual approach will help them internalize and ponder this incredible prayer. Perhaps they will even be inspired to illustrate some of the passages.

I was reading your plans to go through the Easter Vigil with your kids during Lent, so that they can understand it well. I think it's BRILLIANT! 
I have your plans in my Word document, just to be sure I can keep them there, and get to them whenever I want. I'll print them out when all parts are posted.
I am always looking for copywork for my kids, and so this is PERFECT anyway to fit into those wonderful plans! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

More Lenten Copywork:
Last year, my daughters copied and illustrated the Breastplate of St. Patrick in advance of his feast. At the time, I had hoped to have them create an entire notebook full of copied prayers, but this was the only prayer they completed. Maybe this year, I will encourage them complete that book. A "prayer of the month" might make a nice theme for a copywork book.

Ladies, we must all be on the same wavelength, not to coin a catchy phrase, but I have been thinking heavily about my dc's religion notebooks and felt that something was lacking and had decided that for my dd, the older, that she would start choosing some scripture/prayer passages each week for additional copywork on top of our other copywork that I glean from our Literature. Since 1st grade, I have them start making their own prayer books which are a small Photo book sized binder that they continually add to with copied prayers, holy cards, etc, but I really like the idea of having a theme (like the brilliant Easter vigil notebooks) or the St. Patricks... to enhance their appreciation of the activity, ie. the saint or the season. Am I making sense, it's a bit of a rambling day for me I guess, please forgive me, I'm going on minimal sleep today. 
Anyway would love to hear others thoughts on how they make copywork for religion unique.
Ahh, time for some tea I think...

Meredith, your copywork books sound absolutely beautiful. What an incredible way for your children to learn and internalize all those beautiful prayers.
All right, ladies, let's brainstorm! We all agree that it would be a beautiful thing to have a notebook full of handwritten prayers appropriate to the season. Now let's consider what prayers (or quotes from the Bible or saints or other sources) we should use. Perhaps the Catholic monthly dedications could help us get started:
January: dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus
February: dedicated to the Holy Family (and also Lent)
March: dedicated to St. Joseph (and, this year, Easter falls in late March)
April: dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament
May: dedicated to the Blessed Mother
June: dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
July: dedicated to the Precious Blood
August: dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
September: dedicated to the Seven Dolors (Sorrows) of Mary
October: dedicated to the Holy Rosary
November: dedicated to the Poor Souls
December: dedicated to the Immaculate Conception
Saints' feast days and other Church feasts might provide inspiration as well.
Aside from the Breastplate of St. Patrick for March and the Exsultet for the Easter Season, my first suggestion would be The Anima Christi either for April or July. If your children are studying Latin, perhaps they could write the prayer and learn it in both languages.
What are some of your ideas?

For a song/prayer in honor of the Blessed Sacrament, Tantum Ergo comes to mind. This one could be done in both English and Latin.

I absolutely LOVE this idea, and think I'm going to make a prayer book for ME too! 
I'll continue brainstorming, and I know this is very common, but I know we'd include the Peace Prayer of St. Francis. His feast day is October 4th, so we'd include this for October.
I'm still learning Saints feast days, and what's when in the church, so I'll have to research as well for this. THIS place is so wonderful! 
I know in mine, I'll include lots from Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, my favorite Saint (to be). I just love her so much! But she's not a saint yet, so when in the year would I put her? She was born on August 10th, and died on September 5th. Hmmm.....
Anyway, I'll keep a thinkin'!

I love all the wonderful ideas for copywork that everyone is sharing.
I haven't been very active on the CCM yahoo loop because the heavy
emails overwhelmed me but I LOVE this forum; it is so much easier
to handle!
I wanted to mention a resource for copywork that is going to make
my life easier. My 7 yo dd received her First Reconciliation last
month and as she was memorizing her Act of Contrition, I was
having her do it for copywork as well, to really seal it in her brain
forever! I had copied the prayer down for her from the St. Joe
catechism and as we all know, this took me about 5 or 10 minutes
as I was interrupted several times by the littlies..
Well, the good news (if you've read this far!) is this website:

They have software in all sorts of fonts that allows you to type in a
passage and press print and out comes the passage in the
handwriting font you desired--basically it does the transcribing for
you!
I have visions of my oldest doing copywork in cursive of her Latin
prayers that she is memorizing....so let's see that's four subjects in

Copywork
Latin
Handwriting
Memory Work
Just thought this might help someone like it did me; I ordered my
CD today!

Welcome, Jennifer, the CD sounds great. My oldest, Emma is almost 9 and she loves making her copywork very swirly and beautiful, so maybe this is just the ticket for her creativity, and look, there's a little art to add to your list of inclusives. Isn't the CM method great!
Alice and Irene, the prayers sound perfect and I love the idea for each month adding something pertaining to the dedication and then expanding to include saints, etc.
With all these great ideas...What am I going to do when new baby comes???  OOps that's probably another room to chat in!
