For all the IEW users out there, we have had a very good year with the Student Intensive Level B course on dvd this year.

Now I am thinking of next year... should I go with the level B continuation dvd series or do a theme based course? (I am thinking either the Narnia course or the rockets one). My kids will be grade 5 and 7 next fall.

I recently talked to two IEW reps at a convention booth- and Andrew Pudewa himself- and they all gave me a different opinion of where I should go next

So I thought it would be more helpful to bring the question back here and get the opinions of moms who have actually made these decisions and see what you all thought....

You obviously could go either way but I love the theme based approach. I have only used the history ones because I like killing two birds with one stone but I am sure the other themes would be interesting too. Actually you are still getting that benefit just in lit. or science instead of history. Score!

Yeah- I feel like whatever I chose will be good, and If it's not right for us, IEW will take it back for a full refund- even pay the shipping costs.

I would like to try a theme based book, but my ds really does well with the dvd approach. PLus, he got to keep time for Mr. Pudewa at a recent lecture (gave him the 10, 5 , 1 minute warnings), so there is that motivating connection that I think would be sustained by the continuing dvd course.

OTOH, one of the reps I talked to said she thought the level B continuation would be way too hard for dd to do alongside, and maybe even too much for ds after only one year of IEW . Yeesh- love that vote of confidence.

Mr. P, on yet another hand, said that Posh, of course the continuation would be fine. It is meant to do over 2 years.

(The third rep tried to talk me into the American History theme book and had no experience with the continuation course).

Hmm...

Talked to a couple more reps, and they were really helpful.
They both said that the continuation B course is one of the most popular with those who have taught it and with students. One encouraged me to let dd give it a try and then just switch to plan B for her if she feels overwhelmed.

So, based on all the combined advice, I am going to go with the continuation B course, and if it is too much for dd, then I will pick up a theme based course for her to work through.

I'm posting this in hopes that it might help someone else at a similar crossroads!
