Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I need a spelling rules book for me to reference. Do you have any suggestions? Something that gives me the most common spelling rules, but not a college type study of English spelling and variations.

Thanks! I need something to reference as I get into the higher grades and we start dictations.

I tried to search, but 'spelling rules book' resulted in none and 'spelling rules' pulled up lots, but none that had what I needed.

Thanks! It's been awhile, but I love being able to come here for inspiration and dialogue.

Hi Lara!

I use the book, The ABC's and All Their Tricks by Margaret Bishop, and have used it for YEARS! It's the only book I need for dictation lessons. It's easy for me to use and helpful when we're targeting a particular spelling issue.

I also use an easy reference from the Riggs Institute for the 28 most common spelling rules. I copied, pasted into a document, formatted nicely so it fits on one page, printed and laminated so that it is durable and I can reference it easily. I keep a copy inside the cover of each of my dictation books.
