Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Artemis Fowl is a combination of fantasy and spy.   My 2 older girls (15,13) enjoy them.
Matilda Bone would be a historical fiction set in the Middle Ages, I think. She is an apprentice to a bonesetter (doctor). My dd who read the book is not home now.

Hi,

IMHO, Artemis Fowl is kind of on the violent side. There are lots of guns, shooting, weapons, etc. And Artemis is not a black/white good guy at all. He is very "grey", in that respect.

I know I read MB when my daughter did a few years back, but I don't remember it at all right now.

Smiles,

Mary Chris,
I have an "opinion" of the Karen Cushman books.

I love them...though I must add that parents should read them with the younger set. Lately I have put several children books down in disgust because of the "implications" used inside those books.

Like watching a good movie where they use a foul word here and there, I keep thinking "Did they have to go and use that and ruin an otherwise great book?"

But the history in Cushman's books are worth the reading. I have learned so much from reading them.

It might also have something to do with me having a fetish for Middle Age reading.
