Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We recently found I am Phoenix over at MacBeth's opinion. It's been so much fun, but does anyone have tips for helping us stay together when we aren't saying the same thing? Right now our poems sound a bit .

Practice!!!
It does take just doing it over and over and feeling your own rhythm, kind of like singing in harmony. Sometimes, having a conducter helps as well. We love these poems as well the follow-up book Joyful Noises (which won the Newbery Award). We also like to write poems for two voices - very fun!

I agree about both the practice and the conducting! I love Joyful Noise, and I am Phoenix is on my wish list.

Have you tried a metronome? I considered that, but the rhythm would be imposed. The poems don't have a regular meter really, and I don't want to ruin the beauty of the language by imposing one.

I like the conducting idea (and practice, naturally ) very much. Thanks for the help.
