Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Since I'm pretty new to all of this, I've just been sitting back and reading what all of you have to say. I noticed a recent thread here on FIAR and checked out their website. It sounds great, we were sort of doing that on our own...reading a book and then just doing some coloring and stuff to go with it (my kids are only 4 and 3). So, I'm thinking of getting it. My question is, do most of you actualy buy all these books or do you just get them from the library?

I borrow everything available at my library. If the book isn't available at the library and it's not too expensive, I buy it. Once we check out a book, if it's a favorite (that the kids will read over and over again), then I put it on my wish list and eventually buy it.

I try to get the books at the library first. If we really liked it, then I will keep an eye out for it at a garage sale, etc. If we REALLY liked it, then I will buy it online.

I really like Catholic Mosaic better than FIAR, and we are buying those as we find them.

I check the library first and then even go through interlibrary loans to get a look at a book before I'll buy it. Books that the kids really love I will try to find (used) to buy.

I find it hard to get to the library regularly. I have hunted over the years for the books on used sites and have most of the inexpensive (under $7) books in volumes 1-3 (I did the same thing with the Tomie Unit Study). I use them so often I don't regret owning them.

BUT...I played around with FIAR for a year to make sure I really liked it before I invested in the books.

Fwiw, I am still working on collecting for Vol 4 and Catholic Mosaic (only own about 1/2 of those). I have enough children to justify the expense over time and really look forward to reading them with grandchildren one day.
