Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Happy Advent to all!

Our homeschool art classes have made some Christmas cards to send to the troops, but I"m having some difficulty in finding WHERE to send them. It seems that "anyservicemember" doesn't always work with tightened security overseas. Has anyone done this either this year or recently? The kids worked so hard and I really would like to see them get somewhere.

Thanks for your help....hope this wasn't too off topic!

Blessings,
Laurel in PA

Laurel,

Go to www.anysoldier.com and you can literally pick a unit (any service) to send things to. Each unit has a point of contact who's made his/her address available via the AnySoldier.com site. You request that person's address once you've looked at his/her information, which usually includes the number of people in the unit, a vague idea of where they are, etc.

It's important to remember that the military folks are overwhelmed (happily so...they LOVE it) with support at holiday times, so they might not be able to acknowledge your cards. Even so, I can assure you (knowing people who are deployed now or have been in the past) that they read every single care and really, really appreciate the warm thoughts and heartfelt effort behind each card. They're just trying to do their jobs (with less sleep than they'd like), and so they might not be able to acknowledge each child's efforts. I promise they'll read and love the cards. (PM me if you want to send things to people I know personally...but you don't have to...the deployed service members LOVE all the holiday greetings!)

Thanks for caring about our countrymen overseas.

Thanks Nancy!

This is just what I was looking for!

If it makes you feel any better, we moved to PA 15 years ago and I think I still have a few boxes to unpack!

Blessings,
