Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm in the middle of doing paperwork for getting DD registered for things, and everything is asking for a school name. I can't seem to come up with anything except "Our Last Name Academy" which sounds rather boring IMHO. I'd like to incorporate a saint or a title of Mary, but it seems like with living in a large town all our favorites are already taken.

How did you pick your school name if you have one?

My daughter picked ours. We have a statue and several prints around here of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. She has always liked the scripture verse describing Jesus as the Good Shepherd as well. So one day she just said, "Why don't we name our school 'Academy of the Good Shepherd?" And so we did.
Pray about it as a family then ask your kids for ideas.
Our school name has come to mean alot to us.

We are "The School of All Saints"

I love all the saints so I figured we cover all the bases

The weekend I was filling out our paperwork, I asked out pastor what he would name a school if he were to start one, and he said, "Our Lady Seat of Wisdom" so we went with that.

It took me a long while to name our homeschool. I wanted a name that captured our educational outlook.

The name occurred to me one day when I was praying the last invocation of St. Francis to Our Lady. For me the last line sums up the entire prayer. The last line gave me the inspiration for our school name.

wrote:

Hail O Lady, Holy Queen, Mary,
Holy Mother of God:
You are ever a Virgin,
Chosen by the most holy Father in heaven,
Whom He consecrated with His most holy beloved Son
And with the Holy Sprit, the Paraclete.
In you there was and is all the fullness of grace and every good.

Hail His Palace!
Hail , His Tabernacle!
Hail, His Home!
Hail, His Robe!
Hail, His handmaid!
Hail, His Mother!

And hail, all you holy virtues,
which through the grace and light of the Holy Spirit are poured into the hearts of the faithful so that, healing those who are now unfaithful, you may make them all faithful to God.

St. Isidore Academy. We live on a farm and ask for St. Isidore's intercession often, also St. Isidore of Seville taught (homeschooled) his younger brother after their parents died. So, our school was named for both of these saints.

Our school is the St. Joseph Academy for Wayward Children.

St. Joseph, patron of the Holy Family and model of purity.

Wayward Children -speaks for itself. And makes me smile when I'm filling out forms.

Saint Francis Xavier Academy for several reasons, but most importantly, he is my husband's Confirmation saint.

We chose Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Homeschool because of my Chickasaw/Seminole/Creek bloodline. DH likes it too because it of the connection to the North American Continent and historical and ecclesiastical significance.

We had an audience with His Excellency Archbishop Siempre last month at the Papal Nunciature in Washington last month and when I told him the name of our little homeschool he showed us a letter from Bishop Carroll to Geo. Washington dated 1773(?) regarding his concern for the Native Americans under the hedgemony of the fledging United States. It was very exciting.

Saint Benedict Academy...we arrived at this name when we read a book aloud about this saint and we all fell in love with him and have a special devotion to him.
I will be praying for you and your choice of school name!
Saint Benedict Academy is now on our high school transcripts.

That is a good reason to go with that name...
