I have already made my curriculum purchase list for next year, spreadsheet and all.;)
Now dh says, oh but is that everything you WANT? I want to know all the materials you WANT too!
:lol Poor guy has no idea how much he's completely knocked my world out of order! Goodness! I'm so used to being worried about asking for too much that I don't know where to begin!:eek
So. Help me out here... what should I list?!
I've listed the entire Windeatt and Vision series sets because he specificly noted that the kids really like them and he wants more of them. Are the Louis De Wohl books too advanced for 6th grade or below??
I'm curious about the LyricalLife Science series too??? Anyone have any experience with these?? Anything a good catholic should know before buying them? I have a son who would do awesome to anything set to music...
Also, not just books - what about adding FUN items to the home school and faith life? I've listed some games like Cathopoly and Divinty, but am stumbling a bit ....
Okay ladies help me dream shop a bit here!

I would make sure I had a large collection of field identification guides! You can never have too many and when you need them, you need them, you know?
Are you REALLY dreaming? Ok, how about a good dissecting (binocular)microscope? I have one that I got on loan from our local university and it makes such a difference to have a high quality one.The kids use it ALOT.
Art supplies-good quality and lots of them.
Ooh, I could go on...

I read the Louis de Wohl books. I love love love them! I wouldn't let a child under 14 read them, though. They do have some mild romance scenes, a little bit of violence, and one of them (St. Benedict, I think) opens with a town being ravaged and a young woman being chased after and almost raped (rescued at the last minute).
I'd call them "mildly rated R" for mature themes, but not for gratuitousness.

OH! Field guides! Good one, as we're doing nature studies next year!
Microscope is a good idea too... have no idea where I'd put it though... hmmm.
Art supplies are already on the list and given our family size quantity is always taken care off! lol

We like Your Big Backyard, National Geographic, Magnificat and Magnifikid, Kids Dicover, American Scientist, Natural History, Smithsonian, Spider, and Readers Digest!

A great little Catholic Magazine for dc is St. Joseph Messenger and Catholic Hearth is also good.
I'd make sure I had everything I could get my hands on in the Bethlehem books catalogue (as long as you are dreaming). I also have plenty of books circled in Emmanuel books history section - the living books in a time period. I also would really like to have a bunch of science kits and woodworking kits for my boys. How about dissection supplies, owl pellets and various science charts to display (periodic table, bones, muscles, etc). Does you dc like putting models together. You can get great models of the human body, the heart, lungs, eyes, brain that dc paint and assemble. It all depends on whether that is something they'd go for as it is involved. Our oldest put together an eye and brain model and learned more from that than anything.
I've been dying to get my hands on the newest CDs that cover classical and church music (over 1000) on each (Sophia and Ignatius sell the ones I'm most interested in) and some art videos and real post card prints of famous artist's works. I'll have to keep looking at my on-going lists of pared off items from past years.
You asked about Lyrical Life Science. We have it, didn't use it much but really liked the tape. We thought it would help our musically inclined and science handicapped dc - she hated it but I think it was just that she hated science and not anything wrong with the tape or materials. The songs are to cowboy tunes and other stuff and most of us were laughing and laughing at the lyrics. I need to pull it back out now - it might go over better with our younger dc. It is great for learning biology vocabulary if that is what you want and I don't recall anything really to have a heads up about - but we are close to science illiterates in our house - except the 8 yo.
