Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have anybody used these? unit studies Her Christmas unit looks interesting but it doesn't give much detail of the content. I don't think she is Catholic so I was wondering about any problems... She also has a train unit study that looks interesting. My son loves trains! Any opinions?

Natalia,
We used her studies a couple years back. My ds did the one on Lighthouses. We did a whole lapbook on it which hopped off into a study of pirates and gold.

We also did the Thanksgiving one as a family.

It was a lot of fun and we covered the study step by step.

The studies are not complicated and don't require anything extra. If I remember (my books have been loaned out to a friend so I don't have them here to look at) you're good to go on everything except math.

I got to hear Amanda Bennett speak at a hs conference once. She had never seen (or heard of) lapbooks. The friend who showed me how to make them and inspired me, was head of the conference. (Her dc's lapbooks are always better than our lapbooks. ) We sat in a big circle in the conference hall and Amanda oohed and ahhed at Kimberly's lapbooks. She was genuinely impressed.

I always meant to order her garden and Easter books but haven't yet.

She's not Catholic but I have not seen anything negative in the studies we've done. She keeps the unit studies very Christian and very mom-friendly.

Natalia,
I was taking a look at her site. I haven't checked into her new stuff in a long time.

I see she has Athletes of the Bible. Sounds pretty cool. But I'd be reserved until speaking with a Catholic who has seen or used it. I don't doubt that Ms. Bennett is Catholic-friendly, but I'd check non-the-less.

I also forgot that I have the Government CD. I've downloaded it but that's as far as I got with it. I had planned to use it with my boys last year. Perhaps it's time to re-salvage it and get what I paid for.
