is to try your hand at using the search engine feature after reading the tutorial and tips thread.

Let's do some searches just for fun. Try one of these:

1: Pick a topic of interest. Use the search tool and post a link here to a thread you found which was most what you were looking for. Include your search word(s).

2: Share the funniest or most unusual search (terms) you have ever done on the boards.

3. Share a search that isn't working for you, but you know it's there. We can troubleshoot together.

4: Try your hand at the Scavenger Hunt Challenge.

Well here's one I was looking for this morning. I remember Dawn posted last year about a site that makes a book from your blog. So I searched "blog into a book" in "all forums" in the "message body" posted by "Dawn."

And it was the first thread! Ta-da!

Our power company just sent out some "encouragement" to buy CFLs in the form of coupons ($3 off a multipack at area stores...). I remembered seeing something about CFLs here, so I typed in "CFL" and the first result was the discussion thread that JennGM started on Mercury and Compact Fluorescent Bulbs.

Unfortunately, typing in "search and rescue" did not bring up this post or the other two related ones...

That could be because Mary used the ampersand (&) in her title instead of the word "and."

In regards to this issue, I'm glad you mentioned it. It isn't the ampersand problem, I just tried a couple ways and it reinforces my findings that the search engine has a problem when you try to use more than one term when you search by Topic Subject. If you just type in the word "search" or just "rescue" it pulls up the threads as first choices.

And if you had tried to search "Search and Rescue" in Message Body it wouldn't bring it up because the words don't occur together in the text of the messages (well now they do because you have added it to the text with this message and today I could pull it up ).

Tim is really busy right now but when he has more time I'm going to talk with him about this issue with searching in Topic Subject and see if it can be corrected - but in the mean time using one word searches in Topic Subject will help.
