Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Why have so many blogger sites starting making readers have a Google or Blogger account to comment or anything? The Love2Learn site has a wonderful book give away, but you can't submit for it unless you have a google or blogger account.

Honestly, I hate having a million stupid passwords and user names. I have one email addy, my blog, 3 message boards (all the same info) and that's it. I can see not allowing anon comments and such, but I'm not opening another account of any kind until the day I day if I can avoid it.

Seriously.

Transferring all the user names and passwords for various things to this years address book/calendar took 3 pages of paper!

Enough. I'm boycotting the user name/password insanity.

I've onlly got so many brain cells to spare at this point and I need them for other, more important things!

Anyone else in the same sinking under internet identities boat?

Martha,
I'm with you. I have a blogspot account but I can't remember my username (much less my password) so I can never leave a comment under other blogpost posts that don't allow me anonymous or nickname commenting.

I've started to leave so many comments just to realize that I can't remember my password etc. Some days I remember... others I don't!

I only have a Blogger account, so I haven't run into this problem too often. I think the reason many blogs do this is because the blogger gets tired of deleting so much spam from posters who don't have accounts.

But some of us still allow anonymous comments!

I think mine is like Red's. I'll have to go check.

But honestly I think it is about what account you actually have for your blog because I have major trouble leaving comments on Typepad blogs.   I suppose that typepad users don't have to type in long verification codes twice for Typepad comments, like I do.

And homeschoolblogger and xanga accounts?   I can't even leave a comment at all.   Sigh.... I guess it is like you said about trying to keep all the different log-ins separate in your mind. I have a homeschoolblogger account but can never remember how to log into it.

not to tangent, but I can't keep up with all this! I , too, have tried to comment and then realized I did not know/have a password, etc. It is probably better for me. I'm on enough as it is, without a blog, either
I've been invited by 5 different "friends" just this week alone to join their facebook, or that I've been added to their facebook, etc. I did not even realize that I HAVE a facebook account!

Wow. And I thought that I never received comments just because my blog wasn't witty enough!

I like Wordpress because you don't have to do all that. And the anti-spam is built in, Wordpress usually screens the spam comments, and I can choose to have them on approval, so I can approve the comments one by one.

I totally understand and agree with your frustration!

YES! Jenn, I have wordpress too and spam has never been a problem so I guess I'm just lucky and confused over other blogs doing it.

usually it's not that big a deal, not as though I'm commenting that the 2nd comming has arrived or anything vital, it's just a bit disappointing, esp when it's something like a rewards or something.

I love my wordpress blogs they are very efficent with the way that comments are handled. I too am frustrated with logging in to three or four different types of blogs. Supposidly there is a standard in the works that will allow cross plateform comments, that might be cool.
