Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have 3 girls, a 5yr old/pker, a 2nd gr/8yr old and a just turned 11/5th grader. In the fall, I had the 5th and 2nd grader in FIAR, and I've been beefing up the units. The 5th grader is also doing SOTW once a week and zoology once a week, along with ILL and MUS, and reads for at least an hour a day. I was planning on moving the 5th grader into Beyond FIAR in January, but the thought of that is overwhelming me now that I have a newborn in the house. Too much planning...

I know that some of you do literature based units with picture books with a wide age range. Please tell me I am not failing me 5th grader if I keep her with my other dd's and continue to beef things up???

Also, I'm short on ideas besides written narrations for older children in literature units...still have postpartum brain and honestly, I've never done this before. How do you incorporate older children into picture book studies? I need these last 4 mos. of school to be fun but not too hard on me...my newborn is cute and a joy, but he's not exactly an easy baby...

Please help?

Have you seen the new book by Maureen Wittman, For the Love of Literature. She gives such good advice about unit studies! She has a few ideas on her website MaureenWittman.com.

Wish I could help more...also I think she has a unit study involving the study of babies specifically for families with new babies!

blessings and congratulations on your new baby!!!
