Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A post was made and as usual it links to the poster's blog.

She didn't post anything "wrong" in any manner.

however, her blog is .. well... it sure isn't catholic. pro homosexuality and for a minister's wife, she write about things ummm a bit more open than I'd be (and I'm not exactly known for being reticent!)

after the thread about being responsible for where people may be led from our blogs, I'm having second thoughts about leaving the comment?

your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

hmm, that is a tough one. I checked it out. I'm not that offended as she is not a Catholic. However, if it was a professed Catholic with a blog like that, I would most definately not want to be responsible for that kind of link from my blog...Wow, you are evangelizing- hope she visits your blog often!!

I would agree. I looked at her blog and while there are things I would never put on my blog, I was not offended.

Plus, I think there is a difference between advertising or encouraging someone to look at another person's blog in one of your posts and someone providing a link in their signature. Her comment was also not of the variety that encouraged people to come check her out so I would leave it.

I would only reject a comment that in itself was objectively offensive. I don't myself ever post links to blogs whose content I find problematic: I have one friend who sends me links to blogs she thinks are funny, and while I agree that some of the stuff is funny, they aren't the kinds of blogs that I would promote, so I don't.

On the other hand, I don't think I'd discourage a poster from posting on the basis of disliking the content of his/her own blog -- if the post itself was unobjectionable. Allowing someone to speak isn't the same thing as sponsoring them, I don't think. And unless that person is posting something inappropriate on your blog, in which case they're NOT welcome to the conversation, making them welcome is both charitable and possibly instructive (maybe one day this poster will look at the content of her own blog and think, hm, maybe I'm wrong about all this . . . ).

My $.02, anyway.

Sally
