Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Or is it too early for this neck of the woods?? When we were in Ill, early Sept to early Oct. was prime time for apple picking. We have an open schedule tomorrow, dh is home with us (very rare) and we have a beautiful weather forcast so it'd be a perfect day for some pickin'!

Hartland Orchards in Markham has apples. Call in the morning. Last week it was mostly the late summer varieties but some of the cooler ones are coming along. Have fun!

We went apple picking at Stribling Orchard, also in Markham, late last September (with our then 2- and 4-year-old sons) and had a good time.

Thanks for the information. We ended up going to Hartland. It was nice. Weather was perfect. Our favorite apples as a family are the Fuji, and they weren't ready yet. We were able to get some great Golden Delicious though, and some other type of sweet/sour variety off a tree that wasn't marked.

FYI: For those of you that are planning to go this weekend, (ie. Molly) be prepared for lots and lots of gnats. In your nose, hair, eyes... blech!!      Also, don't forget to ask for one of the looong picking poles. The biggies are all waaaay up high.
