Absolutely! That's my main reason for blogging. I'm blessed in that all my relatives support our homeschooling.
Maybe blogging will help your family see what goes on in your home and shed a positive light on homeschooling  .

I don't. I think it would just give my mother more 'fuel', as she is very very critical of our homeschooing and our faith.

Our family in SC checks ours sporadically -- but it's a great way for them to take a "peek" every so often....and they're not so keen on hs'ing but know that it's pointless to even tell us as I'm known as being pretty darn hard-headed ...

I share my blog. I have begun to realize that the few family members I have shared it with have spread it all over. Some of my family definitely questions our conservative, Catholic lifestyle, and I have learned through some comments that the blog does shed a nice light on our life. I believe it has helped soften their viewpoints, if not change them.

I agree with you here. I think that when they see what we're doing an almost daily basis -- yes, it's very Catholic (which they're not), yes, it's very different from "traditional school" -- but they see the kids are happy, we eat well (love that cooking math and living the liturgical year  ), and they see the kids ARE learning ... which is really the whole point of schooling of any kind!

DD's barn activity blog is only for her cousins, aunts, uncles and grandfather which is her wish.
We have some animal crazy relatives so it is fun for them to peek in.

Yes, it's also our main reason for blogging. We started an adoption blog and our current one just grew out of that. All of our family lives on the other side of the country so it's our way of keeping them up-to-date on our life.

I am very interested in this topic. I have yet to let my family know about my blog because my parents are divorced and I didn't want to have to "be nice" in expressing my thoughts on the subject.
I know some people who have a "family blog" who say that they feel the need to "keep everyone happy" when it comes to discussing some tougher issues and that bothers them because they would like to have the freedom to be more honest about their thoughts and feelings.

My blog was just for them...i got tired of the "why dont you ever send pics?" also they like to see stuff that the kids are working on.
it is just for them and we keep it passworded. I still use nicknames and dont say where we live otherwise dh said no pics online.
i enjoy picking out the pics for the grands and my dad has quit thinking that "i never go out"
he thought homechooling housewife meant chained to the sink all day i guess 
the other new one will just have our projects but i bet my brother will look at it. He is crafty too.

I initially started my blog for my family who live quite a distance away. My family supports our hsing, so I didn't need it to prove anything. But my dh's family, who does not support hsing at all, also reads my blog. My mil never says anything about us hsing or the blog, but I think we may be changing some attitudes. Although, her big thing about hsing isn't so much about academics as it is about socialization (surprise!)
My blog has changed the attitudes of my friends, though. I have one friend who was very adamantly against homeschooling when we first started. Now that she has read my blog, she is very much for it. She tells me all of the time at how impressed she is at all that I do with the kids academically.

I blog mostly for myself! I needed an outlet!LOL!
My family members know about it and visit on occasion, but in general are not "computer people" so it isn't a regular thing for them. They are, however, supportive of homeschooling, so I get positive feedback when they do stop by.
My Mom used to visit daily (never commenting) but her Alzheimers is getting worse and last time I asked her if she visited she said "what blog?"

What she said! I also do it mainly for my own amusement.
I have recently shared the details with various family members. I was bashful about it at first but then just decided to let it all hang out .
It's a bit odd when everyone knows what you've been up to without having spoken to you. Still, I think the family visits have dried up somewhat recently as they've decided that the subject matter (home education and Catholicism) is 'boring'.

My dad is my biggest fan. All of my family reads my site. My mom is not so supportive. She is convinced we will all be stalked and murdered or something.
I love all of you but having my brother and sisters comment on my girly homeschool site means the world to me. They are all very proud of me. I didn't expect that at all, but it's very nice.

I am like Elizabeth, I started out for me to keep a record of these precious years because I don't remember it all 
I have told my family but not dh's. Why? Well do they really want to know about my life? I don't know, I'm bashful I guess. My siblings, all young and single think its great, my sister sends my blog site off to her young career friends who in turn visit 'your' sites
